Juan Pablo Olmedo is the chief advisor to the Bicameral Commission on Transparency of the Chilean Congress. Mr. Olmedo is a lawyer with 18 years of professional experience in Chile and Latin America on state modernization, protection of human rights, freedom of expression, access to public information and prevention of corruption. He led and participated in the development and implementation of Law No. 20.285 on Access to Public Information and Transparency in Chile, which came into effect in 2009. As member and first president of Chile's Transparency Council (the access to information oversight and enforcement body), Mr. Olmedo was responsible for setting up the institutionalization of this new state body.
