Open Government Partnership Global Summit

This panel will present Mexico's National Transparency System emphasizing the subnational level involving governors, representives from the civil society and the national autonomous agency, INAI.

This session will provide a platform for participants to highlight the priorities of public policy in their countries in the areas of public sector reforms inspired by the principles of openness, transparency, accountability and citizen participation. The roundtables will also give the opportunity to the government leaders of Open Government of LAC and OECD to identify work areas in which the network will focus its activities in 2016, with special attention to the relationship between open government , inclusive growth and sustainable development. More Ministers of the region will actively engage in the conversation.

Mexican states, municipalities and autonomous bodies come together to recognise the role of open data for implementing the sustainable development goals. A Memorandum of Understanding amongst government levels will aimed at facilitating access, use, reuse and redistribution of public data will be signed.

This session will provide an opportunity for government officials to share ideas and discuss common challenges by extending their networks. Participants will leave the session as part of a community of government innovators. They will also have a greater awareness of how open data practitioners in other governments have addressed similar challenges.

During this session, there will be two representatives of each city and state that belong to the network "Red Mexico Abierto" and also the partners that support each main line of action mobility, cadastral data, resilience and crime prevention. There will be four roundtables, one for each line of action in which members and allies set specific targets in the field, based on the use of their data published at datos.gob.mx

Since its launch, the OGP has achieved a rapid expansion in its breadth - from the 8 founding countries to its 65 members today - and has had considerable success in being a catalyst for open government reforms in national level governments. The next frontier for OGP is to deepen, by increasing the involvement of sub-national tiers of government. This session will explore past, present and future innovations in applying open government and the OGP at a devolved, federal or local level. The session will begin with lightning talks from four people leading innovations on subnational open government.
